We started in the Zanskar and ended our rafting journey at Sangam (the intersection the Zanskar and Indus rivers). The both rivers were of a different colour and the point where the two rivers merge was clearly visible. Ladakh is something out of a JRR Tolkein fantasy. What a thrilling experience this was.
We covered a distance of 18 kilometers in approximately 2 hours and it required every ounce of energy we could muster, but in the end, the sense of achievement helped us overcome fatigue and we all went back with our heads held high. The water is freezing - yes, but we all took a dip and after 30 secs, we were one with the water. All aches and pains seemed to magically disappear. I definitely recommend rafting in the Zanskar, maybe the shorter route (1 hour) for the uninitiated but definitely a must do.
